Programs and Services - Project SHARE

Created in 1991, Project SHARE was developed as a non-profit charitable organization in response to an increased demand for emergency services. Project SHARE provides emergency food and support services to residents of Niagara Falls who are living on or below the poverty line as stipulated by Statistics Canada. The programs are designed to create positive, proactive alternatives in order that people can help themselves and their families in times of crisis. Project SHARE provides clients with support through our Emergency Food Assistance program. In addition, Project SHARE is able to assist clients through other services and referrals including utility subsidies, transportation, and clothing. By being partnered with Canadian Tire's Jumpstart program, children 17 and under are able to participate in a variety of sports activities such as soccer, hockey, and gymnastics. Project SHARE offers educational programs as well, including gardening, cooking, and preserving workshops. Clients are able to learn how to plant and grow their own produce and are then given skills to cook and create simple and healthy recipes to feed their families. The Savoury Samples program allows clients to taste a food sample in the waiting room and are provided with the ingredients and the recipe to take home and try themselves.
