Founded in 1923 — over two decades before the launch of the NBA in 1946 — the Kings have bounced around from Rochester, to Cincinnati, to Kansas City, to, of course, Sacramento, all while trying to establish a winning culture. Like with any team, no matter how many championships they’ve won or consecutive playoff misses, the Kings are a franchise littered with talented players, ranging from some of the all-time greats to ones who had incredible amounts of success in their time with the team. Sacramento may not be the most luxurious destination for free agents or incoming draftees, but it hasn’t stopped the organization from housing guys who many consider elite. Recently, success hasn’t been a consistency in Sacramento, as the Kings have failed to qualify for the postseason since 2006, a 12-year drought that stands as the longest in the league, so for this list, things might get a little historic, as those times seem to really be the best for this organization. No matter, because even if one doesn’t find themselves a true historian of the game of basketball, this list can still prove a unique and interesting perspective as it provides a window into Sacramento’s history.
