LITTLE BIG MAN! Is this western movie a comedy? Wearing the hat from his film debut in LITTLE BIG MAN (1971), actor Jesse Vint joins host Rob Word to share behind the scenes adventures in Arthur Penn's classic western satire. Told in flashback by crusty 121-year-old Jack Crabb (Dustin Hoffman), LITTLE BIG MAN is a rollicking western adventure. Or is it? Could it be a message film? Coming at a time of student unrest, the Vietnam war, and racial tension in America, the movie reflects that era but it is set in the old west. As in Thomas Berger's novel, the film depicts white political and military corruption and compares it with the alternate life style of the Cheyenne and their counter culture commune sensibilities. Those traits made the film one of the most successful westerns of the early 70s. Jesse recalls getting a secondary role, but one that kept him working on location for six months with an A-list creative team and the very best stuntmen in the business. Some of Vint's other westerns include "Bonanza," the all-star miniseries, "Centennial" and director John Badham's "The Godchild," a remake of "The Three Godfathers," starring Jack Palance and Keith Carradine.
