I heard about these from some of the nurses in the hospital when I had my daughter, but never got one because I assumed like most that these don't work. I now have a 5 month old and she is getting teeth in two at a time. We've tried everything, tablets, gels, teethers, cold wet washcloths, and nothing really worked she would just drool everywhere and SCREAM at the top of her lungs in what we believe was pain. Each bead is hand knotted and small enough that if it did break wouldn't create a choking hazard. The clasp screws inside itself, so no pinching or getting caught on neck hair. Please understand this is NOT a break away but it is indeed a screw design. We have been using this necklace for 3 weeks now. In that time, there has been a LOT less drooling, I wasn't sure if I was just hoping it worked or if it actually did so we took the necklace off for a couple of days and those couple of days were TERRIBLE. She would scream, droll, knaw on my shoulder or her mothers just overall it was very bad. I put it back on and literally within the same day the drooling was reduced and she was all smiles again!
