Griffith Observatory is an iconic space museum in Los Angeles that sits on top of a hill with great views of the city. OVERVIEW: Griffith Observatory is one of the most popular places to visit in Los Angeles. Sitting on top of a hill in Griffith Park, you can see the famous white building from most of the city. There’s a huge lawn in front of the Observatory to lay down on, and scenic views of the city, including the Hollywood sign and Downtown LA. Inside the museum are 2 levels with multiple astronomy exhibits on space, stars, our sun, moon, and the planets. There’s also a large dome theater that projects short education space movies onto the ceiling - tickets need to be purchased. From both the back and the top of the museum, you can get even more scenic vistas of Los Angeles. There are also many other place to visit inside of Griffith Park, such as the Fern Dell Nature Trail, Bronson Caves, Travel Town Museum, LA Zoo, Shane’s Inspiration Playground, and Griffith Park Train Rides. There is also metered parking on the road up to the observatory. For free parking, you will need to park at the bottom of Griffith Park near the Greek Theater, but it is a mile hike uphill. @StevenLMa
