This cave is named after Akka Mahadevi, who was a renowned saint of 12th century who also contributed immensely to the Veerashaiva Bhakti movement. The movement was initiated in Karnataka that promoted religious aspects like equality, social justice, and devotion to Lord Shiva where along with Basavanna, Akka Mahadevi took active part. The cave has natural formation of Shiva Lingam and a huge arch made of stone. I missed that due to lack of time. Remember per day only 100 people they allow and the counter open from 6 am and the cave timing is 9 am to 11 am. Per adult you have yo pay 650 Rs for boat. For boat you have to get the ticket by paying 80 Rs by cash from Patalganga ghat. The boat will take you nearby to the Srisailam dam and circle you back to the ghat within 30 min. So if I plan for you, it will take the whole day for Srisailam sightseeing. Do early morning Darshana of Sri Mallikarjuna swamy Jyotirling. Then go to Patalganga by walk and avail Ropeway service and boat riding. Come back by 11 am and go for general sightseeing by auto paying 150 Rs each. You will see nearby east gate of Mallikarjuna swamy temple, auto drivers are asking tourists for the sightseeing. Then come back by 2 pm, have lunch and go for other 5 temples including Shivaji Maharaja temple, Hemareddy Mallamma temple, Sarangadhara Math, Amphitheater, Rudraksha Math and Kalbhairav temple by walk. Remember here I haven’t included Akka Mahadevi temple. If you want you can include and modify your plan. There is another hidden gem which most of the people don’t know. That is Sri Istakameswari Devi Temple. Nearby Shikaresvara swamy temple you will see the office of Nekkanti Jungle Ride. So per person they charge 1000 Rs where they provide limited number of government gypsy car and take you to a very remote tribal village. In that village only the temple is situated. Like Akka Mahadevi temple, here also per day only 100 people can visit this temple and you have to book it before one day after going to that office.
