No Toyota hybrid killer! 2024 GWM Tank 300 Hybrid (HEV) review

The Hybrid is not the GWM Tank 300 you should buy. The Hybrid version of this off-road 4x4 SUV is, well, too expensive, not refined enough, and not efficient enough for it to be the better choice over the already excellent 2.0-litre turbo. I mean, sure, you might be enticed by the huge 258kW of power and 615Nm of torque from this HEV electrified turbo-petrol powertrain, but in reality - unless you live somewhere that you will ALWAYS be driving it flat out - it's not all that usable. In fact, the GWM Tank 300 Hybrid -- priced at $55,990 for the Lux and $60,990 for the Ultra (AUD drive-away) -- is so strange that I can't recommend it. Not when the petrol version is such a lovely thing!
