With single-digit temperatures and hives buried in snow, this is definitely hands-off beekeeping weather. In this video, I do a quick visual check of my colonies from the outside, then head into the pole barn to talk about productive beekeeping activities you can do during the winter when you can’t get into your hives. I also touch on getting started with candle making using beeswax, and wrap things up with my overall thoughts and recap of the North American Honeybee Expo in Louisville — an excellent event that was an absolute blast to attend. Winter doesn’t mean idle time for beekeepers. It’s the perfect season to learn, plan, build, and connect with the beekeeping community. 🐝 Thanks for watching, and stay warm out there!
