The Westfjords are a peninsula in northwest Iceland characterized by its dramatic and awe-inspiring fjord landscapes. This journey takes you from Búðardalur, located at the base of the peninsula, through countless stunning fjords, all the way to Ísafjörður, the largest town in the Westfjords. Along the way, we'll make an essential stop at the magnificent Dynjandi waterfall. Near Ísafjörður, you'll encounter a particularly long tunnel that narrows to a single lane in places. The rule is that vehicles coming from Ísafjörður (i.e., those on the non-priority side) must yield at designated passing points. Although I was on the priority side for Ísafjörður, I actually stopped twice to let oncoming traffic pass, feeling a bit uncertain if they would truly yield.
