This is the first video showing steps used June 2022 to install a spruce tree revetment on the Anchor River. The revetment--located on streambanks by the Silverking area below the Old Sterling Highway bridge--involves cabling 8-10-ft long cut spruce trees along the waterline during low water. Spruce trees then help protect from erosion the toe of the eroding bank while trapping sediments and debris to help build up and stabilize the streambank. The installation was funded through an ACWA grant to Homer Soil and Water Conservation District from the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation.
