This video is a compilation of the reasons I believe autistic people struggle with mental health to a great extent. As with all these little thought experiments, not everything applies to everyone. These reasons are formed from my own experiences, the observations of others on the spectrum and the personal research I have done during my time at University. Throughout my research into mental health and autism, one thing that astounds me is the lack of coverage of these shocking statistics... Extremely high rates of suicide, suicidal thoughts, severe mental illness, anxiety, social isolation, unemployment AND a ridiculously high dissatisfaction with their treatment quality.
