Join our excursion to famous lake Siljan and Sweden's most Swedish province Dalarna. After doing a quick detour over Fulufjället Nationalpark we were heading right to the heart of Dalarna: to famous lake Siljan. Because I had heard so much about the area we spent a whole day at the lake to discover it's most scenic places. Here are our must-visits: The scenic village Leksand. Have a stroll through the tiny roads and enjoy Sweden's most famous desert: Sarah Bernhardt. Leksands Hembygdsgårdar: An open air museum in Leksand, that has several old houses that gives you a feeling, how life in Dalarna was several hundreds years ago Leksands Kyrka: The church is one of the largest rural churches in Sweden and the oldest parts of the building are from the 13th century Pay attention to all the red houses around the lake: Dalarna is the birthplace of the traditional red painting for cottages. The color is called Falu red - and it’s named after the mines at Falun in Dalarna, where The pigment historically originated from. Have a swim! Lake Siljan is swedens 6th largest lake. It is the result of a meteorite that hit the area 377 million years ago Visit Tällberg: All houses in Tällberg are made out of wood!
