Raad Hashem Al-Zobaie states that the attempt to create a term like “armed factions” and distinguish it from the PMF is an Iranian political maneuver, a ploy that may have deceived their British correspondent in Baghdad. There is no such thing as “factions” separate from the “Popular Mobilization.” Is ending the occupation of Jurf al-Sakhar and Al-Awja, and shutting down the militias' secret prisons, truly harder than disarmament? What Reuters calls “armed factions,” and claims are separate from the PMF, include: – Harakat al-Nujaba, led by Akram al-Kaabi, 12th Brigade of the PMF. – Kata’ib Sayyid al-Shuhada, led by Abu Ala al-Wala’i, 14th Brigade of the PMF. – Kata'ib Hezbollah, operating as the 46th and 47th Brigades of the PMF. – Liwa al-Khorasani, 18th Brigade of the PMF. – Kata’ib Imam Ali, 40th Brigade of the PMF.
