Ostraca decided to just drop 4 of their best songs at once in Eventualities. So far, and I highly doubt it will be topped, my AOTY. When Song For a Closed Door released, it quickly grew on me to be one of my, if not, my favorite Ostraca song. So Do I was of course one of my previous favorites as well. Danny's rerecording and the small details that have been added really add to this new version. I'm a real fan of his work on both this and Disaster (not to mention the Macrock set as well). As a fan of post rock and Mono, a band Gus has cited as influence for him as well, Esau also became one of my favorites. That song also ends with a huge wall of guitars and blast beats, very reminiscent of my own music. Finally with compromise - while I'm not as big of a fan of the intro - the rest of the song also contends to be one of my favorites the band has written. Particularly the part at around 2:00 and the stop-and-go section that comes after is definitely the highlight of the song to me. Needless to say, I'm absolutely stoked with Eventualities. I plan to cover more from it in the near-ish no promises future. And I'm beyond excited to see that they'll be coming to LA soon in June so I can see them live for the first time. As for this cover itself, I'm pretty proud of how I got the guitars to sound. Audio is double tracked. In the video I'm playing the right panned audio as well as the clean section. I learned you can add keybinds to toggle tracks in reaper so I was able to put my keyboard on the ground to channel switch in real time instead of recording clean parts with distortion and changing it in post. I also added some screams over Gus in the clean section which I'm happy with how they came out too. (also the harmonic at 2:15 did I cook or no)
