This is a comparison of a TC Electronic MAGUS PRO distortion vs a GRAND MAGUS distortion.The MAGUS pro has the 'CLASSIC' setting selected. The MAGUS Pro is the newer version of the Grand Magus pedal. While both pedals are based on the ProCo RAT2 circuit, it is interesting that the MAGUS PRO FILTER control works like a RAT but the GRAND MAGUS TONE is like a conventional tone control. In the video, I set them so they had the same effect on the overall tone. The pedals are going into the front of a Marshall 1987x head (channel 1) and a 1936 cab. I created a loop of music that I use to demonstrate the pedals on rhythm guitar and then lead. The first rhythm guitar part is a faster punk/metal style and then I slow it down to more of a 80s rock/metal rhythm. Finally I demonstrate the pedals on lead guitar. As usual, I used the bridge pickup on a USA Fender Stratocaster for all the rhythm guitar parts and this time, for the lead as well.
