Flint, Michigan: in their own words, tells the story of a trouble city. Flint has had a series of economic and social setbacks, combined with an infrastructure crisis resulting in the poisoning of it's drinking water with lead. Adults and youth have been suffering the effects of lead poisoning. City officials, at first covering up the crisis, then denying the crisis have reluctantly admitted grave mistakes. Some officials have been convicted of criminal negligence. Yet, in spite of all the challenges, the residents of Flint consider themselves to be FlintStones–rock hard and tougher than anything. There is a resilience among the people forged by two decades of adversity. There is hope in Flint. And, healing. This short film recently won best documentary at the Avalonia IV Film Festival.
