ASA 104- Sailing in Every Direction! S2E3

We start this episode with getting familiar with the engines and the maneuverability of a catamaran. We do some 360's in the harbor and practice a bit of docking. We then head out to Biscayne Bay for man overboard drills with the engine. We each take turns getting caught off guard and making it back to the bouy without losing it. After a few turns at the helm, we move onto points of sail. I went first, which was a challenge to remember all of the different terminology. Falling off- Heading Up- Starboard Tack- Close haul- Jibeing- etc. etc. Thank goodness for Captain Keith running me through the paces as this is one of the hardest things about sailing- learning all the positions of sail and their sail positions. By the end of all four of us, we had it down. We Hove to for lunch and continued to a bit more sailing in the afternoon before heading into Coconut Grove for a mooring ball. We stayed at the Coconut Grove Sailing Club, which had warm showers and wi fi. While relaxing with a couple of our Captains friends, a cold front blew through and made for a comfortably cool evening.
