Custom Post Types are a flexible, effective tool to enhance organization and the editor experience on your site. If you have high volume of content, or a variety of different kinds of content, custom post types add an extra layer of organization and make your content easier for your site editors to manage. Many of us are familiar with certain custom post types supplied by plugins, e.g. Products and Events, but it's useful to know how to make CPTs tailored to your site's needs, such as "People", or "Reviews". Custom post types can help you: Easily distinguish between different types of content on your site Create different templates customize post URLs for better SEO In this informal presentation, Clare will demo how to set up your own custom post types using a free plugin, and different options for configuring your post type with taxonomy, archive page, and custom URLs. This presentation will have technical information, suitable for non-developers and advanced beginner WordPress users. This will be an in-person/zoom hybrid event - the presentation will be shown on zoom, with questions taken from zoom chat, as well as presented to the attendees in the room at NIU.
