The attack killed at least 40 people and injured dozens. According to Pakistani officials, seven key militant hideouts were destroyed in Afghanistan’s Nangarhar, Paktika, and Khost provinces. Pakistan claims the operation targeted banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) factions and an ISIS-K (Islamic State Khorasan Province) affiliate. Security sources report that more than 80 militants were killed, though numbers may rise. Islamabad says the strikes were conducted based on “solid intelligence” after repeated warnings to Afghan Taliban authorities to act against anti-Pakistan militant safe havens. Meanwhile, the Afghan Taliban government has condemned the strikes as a violation of sovereignty, claiming civilian casualties including women and children. Afghanistan’s Foreign Ministry summoned Pakistan’s ambassador in Kabul to lodge a formal protest, while Taliban spokespersons accused Pakistan of blaming Afghanistan for its internal security failures.
