Since early 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic has ravaged the world with unimaginable fatalities. And since early 2020, scientists have been working tooth and nail to find new or old drugs that can effectively combat the disease. While screening for potentially applicable approved drugs, a group of Japanese scientists has now made a breakthrough. The scientists have found that an anti-malarial drug called mefloquine shows remarkably high anti-viral activity against SARS-CoV-2.
