Jolani said rebels could have targeted Russian bases in Syria but chose not to. He urged Jolani to reconsider ties with the new regime. Moscow shared close ties with ousted Syrian leader Assad. Moscow operated two bases in Syria, however as per reports, Russia is not leaving those bases. However, Russia has begun withdrawing from the frontlines in northern Syria, as per reports. Syria's new leader said he is not interested in new conflicts amid a barrage of Israeli strikes in the country.
