Members of Tk’emlúps te Secwe̓pemc nation held a ceremony at the former site of the Kamloops Indian Residential School on this first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. There was an honour song and dance at the location where 215 probable graves were discovered on arguably ground zero of Canada’s residential school awakening. Among those gathered were a number of survivors of the school. Leaders in the community says this is a wake up call to enact all 94 calls to action from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s final report. • • • APTN National News, our stories told our way.
