The video series is divided into three parts, and we have covered the subject in detail. This course has been designed, keeping in mind the interest of junior trainees, especially those who are preparing for the super-speciality examinations, NEET SS etc. The main objective of this series will be - 1. To understand different types of APE in lower rectal cancer (LRC) 2. How to choose one technique over the other? 3. To be able to implement this knowledge into clinical practice for better patient outcome Teaching in rectal cancer surgery has mainly focused on the operative technique of TME and LAR, and little attention has been paid to abdominoperineal resection (APR). There are mainly two indications of Abdominoperineal Excision APR/ELAPE – • LRC - sphincter preservation not possible. • Anal SCC – has not been successfully treated with chemoradiation.
