Halloween starts now! ********************************** The Ghostbusters was a sensation when it premiered in 1984, a massive smash hit. $30 million budget for a $260 million box office- that's some wild stuff. It spawned a massive number of licensing deals, toys, breakfast cereals, halloween costumes, imitators, a sequel and a few careers and also a lawsuit or two. The lawsuit's had to do with the Ray Parker Jr. theme song sounding an awful lot like Huey Lewis' "I want a New Drug", and since there were records of of Columbia approaching Huey first well, that involved a settlement. But that's not the focus of this episode of how to drink! I'm talking about EctoCooler which was a Hi-C Tangerine flavored drink that was a product tie in to The Real Ghostbusters Saturday morning cartoon show- and I can't really talk about that without explaining why it was called The Real Ghostbusters and not just The Ghostbusters- More legal troubles it turns out! The Cooler Ecto-Cooler cocktail I make here is A: true to the original flavor profile B: rummy and C: color changing. So I'm pretty darn happy with it. Cooler Ecto-Cooler .25 oz. or 8 ml. Simple Syrup 1 oz. or 30 ml. Tangerine Juice 2 oz. or 60 ml. Plantation 3 Star Shake over ice Strain into coupe Garnish with Tangerine Add .5 oz. or 15 ml.
