Cyling one of the 4 mountains in the SF Bay -- the awesome Mt. Tamalpais

We’re doing a relatively big ride, 80 miles with 7,500 of total elevation gain. Starting from Mill Valley somewhere near the downtown area, (pause…) bike all the way up to Mt Tamalpais, which is 2570 ft above sea level, then we will head down to Stinson Beach, then to Sausalito, and to the Marin Headlands overlooking the world famous Golden Gate Bridge, then back down to Sausalito, then go around Paradise city and back to Mill Valley. It’s going to be a beautiful and scenic ride. Mt Tamalpais is locally known as Mt Tam. It’s the highest peak in the Marin County at elevation 2571 ft above sea level. The word Tamalpais means “west hills” and it’s said that the name was given about 170 years ago by Spanish missionaries to the local native Miwok people of central California.
