Mandarin Chinese is widely known as the standard chinese language while Hokkien, Taiwanese dialect known as min-nan is one of the dying language. My explanation of the Hokkien history and sound difference of Mandarin chinese to Hokkien is to show the difference of a Chinese dialect. As Chinese dialect can sound totally different like a new language. Nevertheless, this is not my mother tongue so i might get confused with certain terms as in Malaysia, the north and southern hokkien sounds a bit different as well as to the others from other countries too. Yet, Hokkien language of different clans can still be understood among each other rather than other chinese dialects such as cantonese.
