In September 2023, the ACE Aware Scotland team had the pleasure of once again hosting Dr Gabor Maté for a day exploring the impact of trauma. His focus was Compassion Fatigue. More than 600 people attended. Every year since 2018, the ACE Aware Scotland team has hosted a major gathering, which draws hundreds and even thousands of the public with the opportunity to think more deeply about relationships, connection and the lasting impact of childhood trauma. This video features one segment from the day-long session offered by Dr Maté. He explores insights generated by the study of childhood trauma and reflects on the resistance that often follows once people begin putting those insights into practice. The Q&A session at the end of the video gives a sense of ways in Scottish citizens are acting on this information, both personally and professionally.
