"Russian philosophers-cosmists talked a lot about the transformation of the future man. K. E. Tsiolkovsky saw it spread throughout the Universe in the form of a thinking substance. V. I. Vernadsky believed that man would become a self-healing, autotrophic creature, like plants or lizards. Some predicted future immortality. We do not know how humanity will develop, how true the foresight of the cosmists will be. There will be interest to fly there — so there will be technologies that will make it possible. And maybe we will have the opportunity to receive information directly from there. Who knows, probably somewhere very close to us there is some "window" through which you can "look out" into other universes or get there. It is interesting to talk about this, but fundamental scientific research is required. It is very important to hold them, because they determine the path to the future of mankind. This should be done not just out of curiosity, but because such studies can give us valuable information about the dead civilizations, the causes of their death, to suggest which ways should be developed, and which should not. And I would very much like our country's attention to science to be much greater. Talk about the need to reduce funding for science, although it would seem that it is already cut below all possible levels, leads to our death as a country and as a people. We can't let that happen."
