Protecting my Brassicas

It's been a beautiful day here again on the allotment. The weather has been stunning which means I can get on with more sowing and I decided to rebuild my covered frame. When my growing frame collapsed under the weight of the snow earlier on this year I took it apart and kept everything, in the hope of reusing it later on. This season I am again growing, Cabbages, Broccoli, Cauliflowers and Sprouts and they all need protecting from being attacked by pests. Last year I lost two full cabbages to the cabbage white caterpillar in what seemed like a full invasion as they ate the leaves in less than two days. Once inside the climate becomes stabilised and keeps the temperature constant, even adding protection from frosts and sharp drops in the temperature. I've bought some new pea seeds and already have planted them inside the frame, but more about that later on.
