LIBD Director and CEO Dr. Daniel Weinberger, an internationally renowned neurologist and psychiatrist, discusses the evolution of the nonprofit Lieber Institute for Brain Development and its groundbreaking work unraveling the genetic roots of mental illness to treat and cure it. Dr. Weinberger's fascination with preventing mental illness began when he treated schizophrenia patients as a medical resident decades ago. Now, at the Institute, he leads an interdisciplinary team of scientists applying the latest in cutting-edge science to identify the genomic causes of mental illness and target those causes with new diagnostic tools and treatments--all to help patients and their families.
