In our quest to answer the never-ending question, "How should I quilt it", we are back with some ideas to use on half square triangles and our online quilting bee block 4. Whether you treat the shapes as individual sections or ignore seam lines and create bigger areas, there are multiple ways to fill the areas and add contrast and interest to the final quilt. In this video we go over 3 different ways you can approach the block and start to show some of the obvious and less obvious ways to break down the block and negative space in the full quilt. I love to sketch out multiple ideas when planning a quilt to find what I like best. I often times start with the obvious and then challenge myself to find hidden shapes and spaces to accentuate. When creating a quilting plan on paper first, it allows you to move forward confidently with the quilting and easily find a quilting path throughout the quilting process. It also takes much less time to erase something that isn't working than to unpick it.
