Testing The Fulltone Secret Freq: More Distortion than Overdrive (Settings)

This is a really cool pedal from Fulltone. But it's not a pedal for everybody. Get your Secret Freq here: https://reverb.grsm.io/doesecret If with the other overdrive/distortion unit that I've owned from Fulltone I've always found some similarity or some "connection points" this one is nothing like the others. In certain ways, it reminded me of a RAT (and then I've found a video form ‪@shnobeltone‬ that explores these two pedals side by side - link:    • Fulltone Secret Freq vs. 1986 Pro Co RAT  ) The Secret Freq is really aggressive and I had a hard time to find boost/overdriven sounds. Also I don't think there's too much difference in sound when your distortion knob pass the 75% Love the high cut very, very useful with a nice range. The Freq knob is a unique way to manipulate the midrange. Similar to the effect of a wah pedal stuck in a defined position. Used in combination with the high cut knob you can easily dial your tone especially if you use it in combo with other pedals. For example I've found useful use a first stage transparent overdrive (blues breaker, Timmy, blues driver, black bok, rc booster) on a light breakup and add the secret freq with low distortion and a ton of mids. Another way is to stack the Secret freq distorted into a compressor to generate a boosted muff-like sound.
