We leave Wanaka behind and hit the legendary Snow Highway (State Hwy 8), one of New Zealand’s most scenic drives of mountains, valleys and mirror-like lakes, all leading us to Methven, the gateway to Mt Hutt. In this episode, SnowChef cranks things up a notch. JD and Rani are joined by Bridget Crosato from Red Dirt Diary, snowboarder, foodie, and all-round snow legend. First stop? it’s all about the mountain, and Mt Hutt delivers great snow, big lines, and an unforgettable day of food, snow and driving. We break for a feast at Ōpuke Kai Restaurant, with bold flavours and sweeping alpine views, before wrapping things up with a stop at the legendary Mr Cool Ice Cream van on the drive back down. After the riding and ice cream, we clean up and hit Patrons Bar at Methven Resort, where the locals turn it up with hearty food, shots, and plenty of rowdy good times. The next day, its DIRT Bandits, New Zealand’s premier UTV motorsport playground. Buckle up for a muddy, adrenaline-fuelled ride along the Rakaia River that leaves nothing (and no one) clean.
