'Chazonim oif Probe' by Sholom Secunda tells a story from the life of a Jewish community: A congregation is looking for a new cantor for the High Holidays. Three candidates come to present themselves. The first is an older hazzan who is very conscious of traditions. His singing is so full of religious zeal that he forgets his surroundings. The heads of the congregation all agree that they don’t want him! The next candidate is a well-prepared opera singer, but unfortunately he does not know anything about the duties of the hazzan. His singing is wonderful, dramatic and technically perfect. Unfortunately, he is so in love with the sound of his voice that he neglects the content of his prayers. The heads of the congregation all agree that they don’t want him either! The third candidate is a young jazz singer. His prayers are entertaining, but also honest and convincing. The heads of the congregation all agree that he will thrill the congregation! _________________________________ CHAZONIM OIF PROBE (Sholom Secunda, Arr.
