I started growing figs in 2015. Like many people I choose readily available varieties thinking they would thrive in my climate. Here in the summer of 2021 I do not have any of those initial purchases as they did not thrive and ripen in New England. I grow these productive and very tasty figs. Olympia, Macool, Sangue Dolce, Brooklyn White and Longe d'Aout. I am trialing many others to add to this proven varieties. The most available and recognized figs are Black Mission, Celeste and Brown Turkey. Many people do grow these varieties with varying degrees of success. Ourfigs.com is a great resource.
