In this video we will explain the procedure and recovery of wisdom teeth removal, Wisdom tooth extraction is a common procedure where one or more of your wisdom teeth—the third molars—are removed. These teeth are at the back of your mouth and usually appear between the ages of 17 and 25. Sometimes, there's not enough space for these teeth to come in properly, which can cause pain, swelling, bleeding, bad breath, and even issues like tooth crowding or infections. To assess the situation, your dentist may take X-rays like panoramic or periapical images, or even a 3D tomography scan to check the position of the teeth, the roots, and their proximity to nerves before proceeding with the extraction. Your dentist will disinfect the area before starting. Depending on your situation, different types of anesthesia may be used. Local anesthesia is the most common choice. Your dentist will numb the area around the tooth using a gel and injections. You’ll stay awake but won’t feel pain during the procedure. If you're anxious, you may be given a sedative through an IV to help you relax. You’ll still receive local anesthesia, but you may not remember much of the procedure. In more complex cases, general anesthesia may be used. This will make you unconscious during the procedure, and the dentist will monitor your vitals closely. You’ll also receive local anesthesia for post-surgery pain. If the wisdom tooth hasn’t fully erupted, your dentist may first numb the area with a nerve block to ensure you feel no discomfort. Once the area is completely numb, the dentist will make a small incision in the gum to expose the bone over the tooth. To make removal easier, the tooth might be divided into smaller pieces using special tools. This technique, called tooth sectioning, helps make extraction simpler and less invasive. Once the tooth is divided, the dentist will use an instrument called an elevator to loosen it, then pull it out with tweezers. After removal, the area will be cleaned thoroughly. After the extraction, the dentist may use stitches to close the wound, which are usually removed after a week. It can take several months—up to six months—for the bone and tissue to fully heal. You’ll be given specific instructions for recovery, such as taking prescribed pain medication, eating soft foods for the first few days, avoiding alcohol, tobacco, and sun exposure, and keeping the extraction site clean but gentle. If you experience swelling, applying ice to your cheek can help. However, if pain or swelling persists, contact your dentist to rule out complications like dry socket, which can occur if the blood clot in the extraction site is disturbed. Wisdom tooth extraction is a straightforward procedure, but it’s important to follow your dentist’s instructions for a smooth recovery. By taking care of yourself and attending follow-up appointments, you’ll heal quickly and feel better in no time! #wisdomteethremoval #wisdom_teeth #wisdom_teeth_extraction #dental_extraction #wisdom_teeth_removal #molar_tooth_reomval
