This video explores the surface level of premenstrual syndrome (PMS), which is a disorder that occurs during the luteal phase of a female’s menstrual cycle. During this phase, a female may experience extreme physical, psychological, and behavioral changes that affect one’s interpersonal relationships. The video examines the various symptoms of PMS, which include mood swings, sadness, body aches, and weight gain. Next, the video explores why PMS occurs, which still requires a lot more research. The video goes into discuss various treatment options such as over the counter medication, oral contraception, dietary supplements, and lifestyle changes. Lastly, the video briefly discusses the stigma around mensuration and the importance to raise awareness. This video was made by McMaster University Students Simran Chima, Dhruvil Gore, Natalie Brown, and Adam Ismael in collaboration with the Demystifying Medicine McMaster Program.
