With it, soul speaks to soul.”– Berthold Auerbach Creative concept: Vasily Pasetchnik, entrepreneur and philanthropist; Irina Krasotina, Ph. D., Associate Professor, Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory ENSEMBLE. Russia and the European Music Scene is a new series of concerts that explores the his-tory of cultural connections between Russia and Europe through chamber music. It aims to reveal fas-cinating historical details, supported by academic research, and to offer insights into the mutual inspi-ration that contributed significantly to the development of chamber music. The creative legacy of European composers reveals impressive evidence of their interest in Russia and admiration for its history and folklore. At the same time there was a counter impulse coming from tal-ented and generous Russians, the so-called Russian Europeans, many of whom were descendants of European immigrants. They often commissioned the great European masters to create outstanding mu-sical works and inspired them to connect these works with the Russian culture. The project offers four chamber music evenings, each approximately ninety minutes long. These four performances focus on the historic cultural dialogues between Russia and Germany, Great Britain, Austria, and France. The project was launched with a special concert in memory of Russian cellist and benefactor Count Matvei Vielgorsky (1794-1866). The concert took place in Moscow on May 26th, 2021. Project soloists: Irina Krasotina, piano Nikita Boriso-Glebsky, Distinguished Artist of Russia, violin Alexander Ramm, cello Artyom Dervoed, classical guitar
