WALKS IN WILTSHIRE at MARDEN, CHIRTON & BEECHINGSTOKE (INCLUDING THE MARDEN HENGE) (4K)

In this episode of my series “Walks in Wiltshire”, I take a 4.5 mile circular walk from the village of Marden which is located about 6 miles South East of Devizes. Once again I am accompanied by my Whippet, Logan. I parked my car in the centre of Marden and after visiting the Church of All Saints, made my way Westwards along a section of the Pewsey Vale Circular Trail to Chirton. After visiting the St John the Baptist Church at Chirton, I headed North to the location of what was once Patney Weir. At this point, I headed East towards The Moors and then over the River Avon & on to Limber Stone Bridge. At Beechingstoke – where there was another church to explore – I followed a footpath South back to Marden. The path took me right through the middle of the Marden Henge – the largest Neolithic henge in the UK. My final destination was The Millstream pub at Marden where I enjoyed light refreshments.
