Everyone has their on technique but this is what has worked for me for years. I'm using the Power Pro Spectra hi vis yellow in the 15lbs test line and pairing with my Shimano spinning reel Ci4+ with a Shimano Crucial graphite rod 6'-6". The great benefit of using braided line is that it is stronger and smaller in diameter than traditional line. I've used this setup to land several fish and it has yet to fail me or other I recommend this tip too. The key is to have a strong knot a the spool of your fishing reel and then make sure everything tight and uniform when reeling. I 15lb braided line because it is only 4lb diameter thickness which makes it smooth and easy to cast but you have the strength to reel in the big fish as long as you drag is set properly.
