In the email, click links to learn more about each story. #1 Visiting architecture students experience DeafSpace on the Gallaudet campus In February, architecture students from Barnard College and Columbia University visited Gallaudet to see what makes our campus special. The Campus Design and Planning team welcomed them with a series of presentations and a tour. Check out the article to learn about the visit and Gallaudet’s unique campus environment. #2 Provost Khadijat Rashid wins American University’s alumni achievement award Gallaudet Provost Dr. Khadijat K. Rashid, ‘90, will be the first Deaf person to receive the Kervin Alumni Achievement Award from American University! The award is given to AU graduates who have distinguished themselves through their professional accomplishments. Read the article to learn more about Dr. Rashid. #3 New DPN endowment fund established Dr. Philip W. Bravin, ’66 & H-’14, and Judith R. Bravin, ’66, established a new endowment fund at Gallaudet which celebrates and honors the legacy of Deaf President Now. The Bravins have been loyal Gallaudet supporters for decades. They attended a signing ceremony with President Roberta J. Cordano and Provost Dr. Khadijat K. Rashid, ’90, on March 26. The Bravins were joined by their family members, many of whom are Gallaudet alumni and staff members, to celebrate the momentous occasion. #4 International development student shares experiences interning in Chile Eric Hidalgo is a second-year graduate student in the International Development Master of Arts (IDMA) program. In an interview, he shared how his experience interning in Chile is building his professional skills while also supporting the Deaf community. #5 Charter Day marks Gallaudet’s 161st birthday President Abraham Lincoln signed the charter that established the university on April 8, 1864. Every year, we celebrate the anniversary of Gallaudet’s founding on Charter Day. The Gallaudet Alumni Association (GUAA) hosts an annual Charter Day award ceremony that honors the work of Deaf community members. The next Hi5 will be on Friday, April 18. Want more Gallaudet news?
