Saint-Amour is a commune located in the Jura department, in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region, which has 2,475 inhabitants. It is part of the Communauté de Communes Porte du Jura. Located in the extreme southwest of the Franche-Comté region, Saint-Amour occupies the first slopes of the Jura massif while overflowing onto the nearby Bresse plain. At the heart of three regions, Saint-Amour, a flowery town at the foot of the Revermont, overlooking the Bresse plain, displays the first round tiles of southern influence. The layout of the ramparts converges towards the old castle, Place de la Chevalerie. The Old Hospital houses a precious apothecary. Fountains line the streets and convents line the town. Saint-Amour has a discreet charm! In the Middle Ages, a fortress and ramparts were built to strengthen the strategic position of the town. Elle fait partie de la Communauté de Communes Porte du Jura. Situé à l’extrême sud-ouest de la région Franche-Comté, Saint-Amour occupe les premières pentes du massif jurassien tout en débordant sur la plaine bressane toute proche. Au cœur de trois régions, Saint-Amour, cité fleurie au pied du Revermont, en surplomb de la plaine bressane, arbore les premières tuiles rondes d’influence méridionale. Le tracé des remparts converge vers l’ancien château, place de la Chevalerie. Le Vieil hôpital abrite une précieuse apothicairerie. Les fontaines jalonnent les rues et les couvents la cité.
