Dr. John H. Morrow, Scholar, Historian, Book Author, and University of Georgia Professor Bio for Dr. John H. Morrow, Jr. Dr. John H. Morrow, Jr. (BA with Honors in History, Swarthmore College, 1966; PhD in Modern European History, University of Pennsylvania 1971) is Franklin and Saye Professor of History at The University of Georgia. He has taught for fifty years, first at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and then at the University of Georgia. The author of the books German Airpower in World War I (1982) and Building German Airpower (1976), Professor Morrow's book, The Great War in the Air: Military Aviation from 1909 to 1921 (1993 [2009]), is considered the definitive study of air power in the First World War. His comprehensive history of the First World War, The Great War: An Imperial History, was published in 2004 and appeared in centennial edition in 2014. Morrow has written a monograph on the World Wars for the American Historical Association and contributed chapters to the prestigious Oxford and Cambridge histories of the First World War. In 2014 the University of Kansas Press published Jeffrey T. Sammons’s and Morrow’s acclaimed book, Harlem’s Rattlers and the Great War: The Undaunted 369th Regiment and the African American Quest for Equality. In 2019 The Pritzker Military Museum and Library awarded Morrow its prestigious Literature Award for Lifetime Achievement in Military Writing. Dr. John H.
