Anatoly Nikolayevich Drozdov was a Russian and Soviet pianist, teacher, music critic and composer, born on October 23 [November 4] 1883, in Saratov and he died on September 10, 1950 in Moscow. Little is known about the early years of Drozdov's life, and even the date of his birth is questionable. In 1902-1904 he studied law in Paris, then in St. Petersburg, at the same time studying at the conservatory in the piano class of Nikolai Dubasov. After graduating from the conservatory in 1909, Drozdov began teaching, first working at the music college of the Yekaterinodar branch of the IRMO (1911-1916), at the conservatories of Petrograd (1916-1917; he taught music theory), Saratov (1918-1920), Moscow (1920-1924), the Scriabin Music College (now part of the Academic Music College at the Moscow Conservatory), and finally, as a lecturer at the Moscow Philharmonic (1932-1944). Drozdov's work has been little studied. Among his compositions are a number of orchestral, piano and chamber works, arrangements of Ukrainian folk songs. Drozdov's style is influenced by Rachmaninov and Lyapunov. Drozdov is the author of numerous critical articles published in the journal "Music and Revolution", as well as monographs dedicated to A. S. Dargomyzhsky, N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov, M. F. Gnessin and other musicians. The image before (and after) the music is In the Urals (1927) by Aleksandr Drevin, chosen by D.
