Based on the founding spirit of “education of conscience” , Doshisha University was established as Doshisha Eigakko (Academy) in Meiji period (1875) by Jo Niijima as the first private university in Japan, and aligning with 150th anniver- sary in 2025. In 2004, Doshisha University Graduate School of Business (Doshisha Business School: DBS) was founded to cultivate core talents for regional and Japanese corpora- tions, and will be “20 Years Old” . Embracing the principles of Conscience and Human Dignity, DBS has aimed to foster responsible, innovative, and leadership-driven professionals. Based on Doshisha's philosophy and DBS's mission, students have become our most valuable assets, contributing to diverse fields including not only corporate managers, but also engineers, business successors, accountants, nurses, doctors, and financial professionals such as securities and banks. People study at DBS and are active as top manage- ment and core human resources in various positions. Currently, DBS comprises two program:Business studies program in Japanese and Global Business and Management Studies program, conducted solely in English, and have obtained international accreditation (AMBA, The Association of MBAs) in 2023. DBS has grown to the point that attract diverse learners from 92 countries around the world with diverse languages and backgrounds, are studying here. Over the 20 years, current students and alumni have become our greatest asset. However, we need to keep moving forward! In the evolving landscape of Japanese corporations, under the presumption of global management, there is a growing demand for corpo- rate governance involving profitability, human capital man- agement, risk management, and a focus on ESG and SDGs in business investments, contributing to local communities and humanity.
