This webinar discusses how the current socio-political context interacts with cultural influences negatively impacting Asian American mental health. Dr. Hsu offers practical ways in which those working with Asian American children and families can approach and support potential mental health challenges. Meet the Presenter: Dr. Teresa Hsu is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and the Founder and Executive Director of SPEAK (a Supportive Place for Empowering Asian Americans and Kin, www.connecttospeak.org ), an organization committed to the mental health of Asian Americans, providing education, research, and services. Dr. Hsu has a dual appointment as an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Pediatrics at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and her research focuses on collaborative care, racism, and population health in marginalized communities. As a former Assistant Director of the Behavioral Health Integration Program (BHIP) at Montefiore Medical Center, she helped establish one of the largest pediatric integrated behavioral health programs in the nation. Her research has been presented nationally and published in peer-reviewed journals, and she is the author of the upcoming book, The Asian American Teen’s Mental Health Workbook: Skills for Children of Immigrants to Navigate Family and Cultural Expectations, Challenge Racism, and Celebrate Who You Are (New Harbinger, Fall 2025).
