DIY PAPER MACHE PUMPKIN HEAD PART 2!🎃✨ Sorry for the wait but here’s the creamy, easy-to-work-with paper mache clay recipe (this is Jonni’s recipe from Ultimate Paper Mache on YT) I used for my pumpkin head: THE Recipe: • 1 ¼ cups damp toilet paper (soak in warm water, break apart with your fingers, squeeze out some water, then measure) • 1 cup premixed drywall joint compound (see notes below) • ¾ cup Elmer’s Glue-All or any PVA glue • ½–1 cup white flour (add gradually. more flour = thicker, sculptable clay) 💡 Important Notes: • Your glue and joint compound must be compatible or your clay won’t work properly. I’ve tried both ways but prefer using USG Sheetrock joint compound + Elmer’s glue. Esp since it’s more cost efficient. If you use DAP brand joint compound, you must pair it with wood glue. Elmer’s Glue will cause the mixture to turn rubbery. I used gorilla glue. Not required, but if you blend the toilet paper, you’ll get an even smoother clay. I didn’t blend for mine Pumpkinhead tho. I only add a little flour in the beginning so I could make the clay spreadable and cover the whole pumpkin. When it was time to add details like cheekbones, stem texture, ridges around the eyes - I add more flour. This mix goes on in a thin layer and will take a few days to dry but it’s totally worth the wait! It’s also perfect for adding cheekbones, ridges, and shaping that pumpkin stem. 🎃✨ let me know if you have any questions or if I missed anything ✨🍁
