Hey guys in this video we take a look at Yellow Wood Sorrel and its identification features, like its distinct leaves and flowers. We also compare it to the white clover, which many might mistake it for. The Yellow Wood Sorrel has a couple variations, such as the Violet Wood Sorrel but is not related to the plant known as Sheep Sorrel. Wood Sorrel is an Oxalis species named such because of the Oxalic Acid content within it. However domestic greens like Spinach have this same chemical in it. The taste of Wood Sorrel is very citrus like and lemony, as such it makes a great addition to salads and desserts. The leaves are very distinct with a heart shape to them and a cleft in the middle that completes this shape. The flower is yellow with five petals and has a trumpet or horn shape to it when held at a silhouette angle. The plant grows in a singular form which can be distinguished from the Clover which forms low mats on the ground. The leaves are usually alternate with some cluster forms of branching towards the top. The leaves, flowers, pods, and stems are all usable for food and desserts with the unique Wood Sorrel taste in them.
