There are a number of things that make aspects of self-care difficult. We know what we should do but it can be a real struggle to do it. If you struggle with starting or maintaining self-care or self-help things, then there's something getting in the way. Your own past experiences can make it hard for you to relax, notice yourself, remember things, or feel anything. These are all coping mechanisms that have been useful or necessary at some point in your life. It's really important to know what you're up against and why things are so difficult for you. It's hard to change patterns of behaviour, it's even harder to shift the negative views of yourself. It's today video, Krista Morten & Catriona Morten sit down to discuss all the things that get in the way, from self-limiting beliefs and recognising your own patterns of behaviour, and what you can do to manage these and begin to make real changes for yourself. Once we understand what makes things difficult for us, we can start to build slower, more solid steps that are sustainable and healthy.
