Henry Kelley Bossard was one of, if not the first, technique bass singer in traditional quartet gospel. A technique bass is a bass singer that lacks the natural depth or resonance characteristic of basses. Technique basses use their full range of vocal techniques to produce lower notes with power and good quality. Uncle Henry wasn't a natural basso profoundo, he didn't have a consistent heavy and powerful Low C (C2) in his repertoire like William Bobo, Ellis Johnson, Isaac Freeman, and other low powerhouses.
